Just a few weeks ago we covered the Apple HomePod and whether or not it would be a hit or miss. Ultimately we decided that it will probably convert existing Apple customers pretty well, but that it would not convert pre-existing Google Home or Amazon’s Alexa.
Contrarily, there was a small market that could be converted. People who had the Amazon Alexa who also had an iPhone. Typically there is some overlap in that market and Alexa, while being feature rich, couldn’t do phone calls or text over it and the Homepod could.
So Amazon has responded.
How Amazon’s new Echo Line Targets Potential HomePod Owners
Text and Call – An Amazon software update has been released that lets you make text messages and phone calls through your existing Amazon Alexas. This is huge, because of feature wise, this scoots Amazon well above what the Homepod can do.
Video integration – Some of the newer models of Alexa out on the market right now offers video integration. Either through a portable screen or through a video feed that lets you see your appearance and do some style guide stuff.
Video Feeding – Additionally, with the newer Amazon Echo, you can stream and watch shows through your Amazon Prime account to your Amazon device. This is ideal for people who are in the kitchen and looking to stream cooking shows and ideas.

Amazon has gone all out once again on curbing the market away from their competitors. By creating a lower-price, more feature-rich product than Apple and Google, they are showing once again why they are becoming so dominant.
Better prices, better content for their customers, and everything gets bundled into the same market. All of this is to drive sales from their site and when it’s so easy and so good to the consumers, why wouldn’t they?
